I almost didn’t right a blog this week. Why you ask? Well if I can be real – I didn’t feel like it. It’s the first week of school, I had to do my blog, my video & my ezine, I had to prepare for my last a business development class early next week, I have two large client projects to complete, I have some work to complete and send to my mentor, and I am behind on some business development training that I am taking. In one word – I felt overwhelmed.
As a small business owner or entrepreneur it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed. You feel like the world is on your shoulders. You have so much to do personally and in your business. How can you possibly get it all done? You begin to say things like –
- One week won’t hurt right?
- The people on my list won’t notice that I didn’t send out my blog.
- They are all busy too.
- By the time they get to reading this week’s it will be time for next weeks. They probably already have five or six blogs to ready anyway so they won’t notice.
Sound familiar? Trust me you are not alone. We all go through it and have our moments. Sometimes you may even think it’s easier to go back and get a job. But will you be happy then. NO!
The more I thought about it, I remembered – it’s not about me. How dare I be selfish and not provide the information that I promised? There is someone who is reading my content or watching my videos religiously and disappointed because they didn’t receive anything this week. I sort of slapped myself in the back of the head.
See you have to be consistent even when times are tough and you don’t feel like it. It is in those times that the blessings will come. You have to push through the pain and tiredness. And while you’re at it, take a look at your schedule and everything that is going on. Maybe you need to restructure it in such a way that you have time to do everything and be there for your family and take care of you. Time blocking is a great way to add that structure. I have set days for certain things to get done. But I got off track last week with school starting for my kids and that’s why I felt overwhelmed. But hey I’m human.
So I say all this to say, Be Consistent. No matter what keep pressing forward. And if you need to re-evaluate and re-group every now and then that’s okay. Create a systematic system that works for you and all will be well. 🙂
